Lovely Things

Look at what's in our back yard!

Lovely little bird nests with darling little eggs! They are just so beautiful!

In other news...last weekend Brian and I planted some semi-dwarf cherry trees in our side yard. Hopefully in 3 or 4 years we will be getting lovely cherries. I can't wait!

Also right now the lovely bush outside our bedroom window is now in full bloom. I love it when it's blooming. It is just stunning!

Doing Better

I'm doing a little better since Friday, but I figured that I should just try and keep busy to get my mind off things, so I feel like posting in my blog today. I was not looking forward to today because I knew the house would feel so empty. Over the weekend I went in with Brian to the office on Saturday, and he worked for a few hours yesterday, but I was dreading a full day for me to be alone with my thoughts. It hasn't been too bad so far. I have occasional spells of crying that don't last too long, but those have been happening since Friday anyway. There is a constant ache in my heart from the knowledge deep down that she is not here, and will never be here again.

Ok, I was supposed to be posting to take my mind off of it, and all it's doing is making me cry more. Changing the subject...

Our garden is coming up nicely, and doing well so far. My spinach is starting to come up, and the cucumbers are too. The peas, the bush beans, and the radishes have been coming up for awhile. Our strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries are doing very well. It's so exciting, and an accomplishment for me because I wouldn't exactly say I have a green thumb...I wish I did though. Can't wait to start harvesting from our garden!

I finally finished the custom order I was working on. Normally custom orders wouldn't take me quite so long to finish. Well, it hasn't even been a week since she asked for the custom order, but I like to get orders done and shipped right away as soon as I can.

Saturday Brian took me to A.C. Moore before we went to the office. I was looking for some jewelers glue, and some ribbon. My stock of good ribbon was running a bit low. I found the jewelers glue, and tested it yesterday. The stuff works awesome. You can't break one of the button rings when you're trying to. I'm very happy about that. Also found bunches of ribbon that I liked in the sale bin. The ribbons are so pretty, and I'm very happy with them.

Not much else to post about. I might go down to the thrift store again today. Depends on how bored I get.

Birthday

Well, today is my birthday. Not really a big deal. Pretty much like any other day. I have to share the stuff Brian hid in the cabinet when he got home yesterday. He gave it to me last night lol. He couldn't even wait that long. He's so sweet though. He went to Bradley's Chocolates and bought me some chocolate turtles(I already ate one of them last night), and he also bought me 3 little note pads that I had gushed over last time we were there. I love them so much!

I love all the little quotes on the notepads! They are just so cute!

I still haven't opened the box from my mom that is tucked away in my closet. I want to draw it out a little. My sister sent me a box of goodies last week, but I will probably have to wait a little for that considering she is in Idaho right now.

I found this lovely little egg sitting on the deck railing today.

I called Brian and asked him if he put it there. Yes, he did. He found it in the backyard under the mulberry tree. It's really sad, but I know there was nothing we could do. No telling how long it had been there out of the nest, and no way to get it back in the nest, and besides the drop I'm sure was not very good for it. Anyway, I was going to keep the egg and maybe blow it out. It was so simple and beautiful, but when I was in the kitchen trying to decide where to put it to keep it safe, it slipped out of my fingers, and splat. I saved part of the shell, but was disappointed not to have a whole shell. Oh well, I still feel sad about the poor little birdie and its mother.

I have some lovely flowers in my backyard that started blooming today. I looked them up online, and I am pretty sure they are some kind of Japanese tree peony.

And here are a few other flowers in my yard at the moment.

New Life

New life is just coming out everywhere!

Garden update. My green onion seeds that I planted are coming up, but still waiting on the others. I have received all the seeds and plants we ordered online, and will try to get the seeds started next week.

I planted the strawberries in their bed. It doesn't look like much now I know, but hopefully we will have beautiful ripe berries this summer.

We planted our raspberry plants and our blackberry plants in the backyard.

I have also planted flower seeds, ferns, and a hosta.

Now I have to wait. I hate waiting.

Brian and I are so lost when it comes to gardening, and we are probably getting at least half of the stuff wrong, but we're trying.

Last but not least I wanted to share with you an etsy item I love! bursting with new life, and so fresh! It has a perfect vintage flare about it that I love so much.

My Corner

Well, in my corner of the world there is a good bit going on right now. First of all I want to say how sweet and wonderful my husband(Brian)is. On Friday he brought me a beautiful box of truffles from one of my favorite chocolate shops(http://www.shopbradleys.com/). Aren't they just lovely?

Spring is coming so fast, and I'm so excited this year! We have been planning our garden, and this weekend we have started to make it happen. We have bought plants and seeds, tools and compost, ordered seeds and plants from online, and we are starting to work. Yesterday we were out most of the day buying supplies, and last night I spent making little seedling pots from the insides of paper towel and toilet paper rolls that I have been saving for that purpose. Today we spent most of the day outside, and Brian also went to get a few more things from the store that we had forgotten on Saturday. I have gotten lots of seeds started in pots, and also gotten a place in the shade ready for my spinach. We would have gotten the spaces for the garden beds tilled up(There is grass there now), but the tiller would not start because it needs a new part. Brian ordered the part online, and it should be getting here sometime this week.

Plants we plan to have in our garden: two types of raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, sugar snap peas, bush beans, radishes, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, green onions, garlic, spinach, asparagus, and lots of types of flowers.

I already have a few herbs in my yard. The lady who lived here before us grew some in the yard, and I also have some chives that I brought.

I want to get some dwarf cherry trees for the side yard eventually, and I want to try to grow mushrooms. I just want to try everything!

I have lots of new ideas for my Etsy shop, and I am very excited about them! Can't wait to get some done, so I can share them all with you, but that will have to wait till I can find a spare moment. Just a sneak peak of something new...

So many things have been making me happy recently, and I will share a few with you. First off the coming spring is making me sooooo happy, and excited, and here are some pictures of a few of the other things that make me happy recently.
